Check your pet for ticks every time you go outdoors even if your pet is already on a preventative.

Run your fingers through your pet's fur with gentle pressure to feel for any small lumps or bumps.

Some species of ticks are no bigger than a grain of sand. A deer tick is the size of a poppy seed.

If you find a tick remove it immediately with tweezers.

Send tick in to be tested for pathogens.

Record your tick for research and surveillance.

Vaccinate your dog for Lyme Disease annually.

Consult your veterinarian to keep ticks off your pets.
